Progressed Chart
The Progressed Chart is calculated by adding the age in of the person to the date he or she was born and calculating a chart for that new date. For example, if a person was born on May 2, 1976, and had reached the age of 35, then the Progressed Chart would be calculated for June 6, 1976. The Progressed chart is analyzed alone, and then it is compared to the birth chart. The most changing feature of the Progressed Chart is the progressed Moon, which moves to new signs every two and a half years. During this time the ways in which we respond to situations emotionally vary. The Sun, Ascendant and Midheaven signs also change at least once during a 35-year span. When these new signs come about our personalities grow to take on new dimension. For example, if a person was born with the Sun in Taurus, and the Sun progressed into Gemini, he or she would become more communicative (a characteristic of Gemini). We never lose our birth placements; we develop them and add accessories.

Solar Return Chart
The Solar Return chart is cast to the most recent time that the Sun returned to its exact position that it was in when the person was born. The Solar Return chart tells what kind of year that the person will have for their personal year – last birthday to next birthday. This chart is analyzed, and then it is compared to the birth chart to see the angles – stresses, ease, strengths that the person will feel throughout the year. The Ascendant of the Solar Return chart will show how the person believes that others will perceive him/her to be. For example, if a person was born with Aries Rising (Aries on the ascendant) then they are perceived throughout life as a straightforward, direct, aggressive person. If their Solar Return chart indicates a year with Libra Rising, the personality will present itself as one who strives to relate.

Transits
The planets constantly move through the sky, at their own speed. A chart cast for any moment is called the Transit chart. Transits of the Moon happen so quickly, that unless we read Today’s Horoscope and know what to look for, we almost don’t notice them, since the Moon goes through all twelve signs in 28 days. But timing of events can be made by comparing the transiting charts to birth charts to note when transiting planets will aspect birth planets or enter new houses in the birth chart.
